Lessons on Resiliency

I was asked last week to do a workshop on resiliency and how it relates to self-care. In the small group discussions, a new manager said, “How do I get it?” (meaning resiliency, as if to write down a recipe) Another more seasoned person said, “You don’t just get it. It has to be cultivated but practicing self-care is where it starts.” The “teacher” then went on to tell her stories of developing resiliency and engaging the newbie in a wonderful experience of sharing her heart. It was a beautiful, vulnerable moment where both teacher and student emotionally connnected and each received long lasting gifts. Stories of resiliency are profound tools that can connect generations of caregivers to create bonds.
